ERIK FORSMAN 1916 - 1976
Erik Forsman, born February 7, 1916 in Hedesunda, Gästrikland, died April 17, 1976 in Danderyd, Uppland.
He was a Swedish illustrator. He was the son of Jenny Nyström and, like his mother, is best known for his Christmas pictures.
After Otte Sköld's painting school, he received his first order from Marabou to illustrate advertisements, in 1945 he began painting motifs for Christmas cards, bonads, etc. which became what he lived on for the next 30 years.
The first decades of the 20th century, bonads were printed after painted models. Diligent artists were Erik Forsman, Jenny Nyström, Curt Nyström, Lars Carlsson and Aina Stenberg-Masolle and others
These have today become major collectors' items and then much because of nostalgia for the Swedish Christmas.
