When Kalle's parents travel, he has the great fortune to live with his uncle Nisse. Santa is a scrap dealer and always has lots of gadgets and exciting things going on. This week he plans to rebuild an old barge for wheelchairs. With it he will then go on a trip to Africa and look at the wildlife. With good help from Kalle and his friend Kvarnsten (brother of Frankenstein's monster?) The wheelchair gets really nice, and they certainly get to see lots of wildlife. But that is not really what Scrot-Nisse had intended. Kalle, however, thinks that it was a different and exciting journey. An adventure, just as he had hoped!
Scrot-Nisse was published in book form for the first time in 1976. A few years later, Scrot-Nisse and his scrap trade inspired the TV success? Skrot-Nisse and his friends ?.
Jan Lööf has since 1966 gilded the children's world through his ingenious tales and peculiarly clever illustrations. The fact that a classic like Skrot-Nisse is now also in the Ekorr books, a series of high quality picture books at a low price, is fantastic fun. Congratulations to all Swedish children!
